Fruit or Vegetable?

Is a Beet a Fruit or Vegetable?
Botanically, this is...
Culinarily, this is...

Beets are the main roots of beet plants that people eat. They’re pretty round, really colorful, and one of the sweetest vegetables; but they’re not fruits at all. Something has to be a fruit botanically for it to be one culinarily, and beets don’t contain seeds like the botanical definition of “fruit” necessitates. Plus, it’s often either cooked or eaten in a vegetable salad. I would never bite into one raw or put any in a fruit salad.
